1 in 3 young people will grow up without having a mentor.
Either through a formal mentoring program or informally through a family friend or community member – they can gain access to a  critical resource to help with shaping and molding a brighter future.

Support for Race 4 Excellence comes in many forms. However you decide to support, you are taking control of the future. Molding it like clay. By supporting R4E, you have chosen to get up off the sideline and TAKE ACTION. The action that you take will make a huge difference in the lives of the members of this village and those we come in contact with.
  1. You can tell family and friends about the program. You never know who will do what to support this program. Give others the opportunity to contribute.
  2. You can become a mentor. Paint, build and race your car against others in the village! Come and have fun with the participants. That's all it takes.
  3. Donate. Contributing to Race 4 Excellence is 100% tax deductible. You can sponsor a car, a mentee, pay for a field trip or fund a program for a year.
What Makes a good Mentor?
Here are a few things to understand about the role of mentoring. Most of us have had a teacher, supervisor, family member, family friend or coach who has been a mentor to us and made a positive difference in our lives. These people often wear many hats such as delegators, role models, cheerleaders, policy enforcers, advocates, and friends. Mentors assume these different roles during the course of a relationship, and share some basic qualities:
  • A sincere desire to be the change you want to see
  • A passion to take on the challenge
  • Respect for young people
  • Patience
  • Empathy
  • Ability to see solutions and opportunities
Above all, a good mentor is willing to take the time to get to know their mentee, to teach new things that are important to the development of  young people.
What are the benefits of becoming a mentor?
Mentoring relationships benefit the mentor and the mentees. Many mentors say that the rewards they gain are substantial:

  • Have fun
  • Achieve personal growth and self knowledge
  • Improve their self-esteem and but make a difference
  • Increased productivity
  • Gain the ability to enhance personal and professional relationships
